Earl Vincent Boley (in his own words):
"Painting and life both give me great joy. I try to express my joy through light, color and form on my canvas. When someone looks at my work, I want him or her to feel what I feel. I started showing my work in the late 60's and studied at the Art Students' League in NYC in the early 70's. I work with acrylics, mixed media, found objects, papier-mâché, wood and steel, and stained glass, but I prefer working with oil. Using brushes and palette knives, I paint all subjects and sizes. My favorite way of painting is "plein air" painting – painting real life in real light. Writers such as Emerson, Walt Whitman, Thoreau, Gurjieff, and Henry Miller have inspired me, as have artists such as Robert Henri, The Ash Can School, and Ted Goerschner; French and American Impressionists also influenced me. My goal is to keep my life, work, and art orderly, simple, and free while continuing to increase my knowledge and understanding of the world around me." www.earlboley.com
